Gaudy 2021: Preview

Welcome to Gaudy 2021! Although it is not possible to welcome visitors in person, we hope you can join us online for as many of these entertaining events as possible. Articles, concert reviews and podcasts, including Desert Island Discs style interviews with the current Warden and Warden-elect, will be posted here throughout the week.
Music Highlights
Leavers’ Platform – 8.00pm, Monday 28th June
The Upper Sixth leavers present a programme of solos and duets in the historic Holywell Music Rooms in central Oxford, the oldest concert rooms in England. We celebrate their achievements in this final recital, as they present their own choice of varied styles and genres.
Pathways Music Presentation – 6.00pm, Thursday 1st July
Fourth Form pupils taking Music and Music Technology Pathway present an evening showcasing their composition work, including music technology compositions and live performances.
Gaudy Concert – 8.00pm, Friday 2nd July
Watch our Concert Band and Choirs perform individual pieces, and then enjoy four of our Upper Sixth showcase their talents, with Mozart Piano Concerto in D and Vaughan Williams Five Mystical Songs.
Other Events
Monday 28th June
6.00pm, Duke of Edinburgh Award Presentation Evening
See this year’s Gold award participants deliver their expedition presentations on surviving 4 self-sufficient days walking and camping across the remote terrain of the Black Mountain and Brecon Beacons.
Tuesday 29th June
6.00pm, Theatre Soc Shorts
A collection of short scenes and extracts from a variety of theatre to intrigue, inform and entertain performed by members of Theatre Soc Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth.
8.00pm, Pathways Drama
Our Fourth Form Drama Pathway pupils are staging three pieces for Gaudy including adaptations of Jim Cartwright’s Road and Two, and Footprints, an anthology compiled of scenes from different authors. Pupils will perform, design and take back stage roles, learning how a professional theatre company takes a play from page to stage, with support from the North Wall’s tech team.
Thursday 1st July
8.00pm, LAMDA Presentation
A showcase of solo monologues, duologues, theatrical miniatures and musical theatre pieces – support our amazing students showing pieces from their LAMDA portfolios.
Saturday 3rd July
6.00pm, Dance Show
The Best of British: Watch the spectacle that is the Gaudy Dance Showcase, with every style represented in an evening of entertainment and delight. Our 120 dancers perform their programme, from the Olivier.
